![]() I'm not going to lie, I am both nervous and excited to announce that I will be a professional beta reading panel guest speaker at SaS Con tomorrow (February 28th). SaS Con is a virtual convention for creatives (artists, authors, poets, and more) that is FREE to RSVP for HERE. The panels will all be virtual on Discord, so anyone can join in. ![]() Meet B.K. Rae: February's Featured Indie/Self-Published Author! This month I am excited to introduce an amazing paranormal urban fantasy romance novel--B.K. Rae's newest volume in her The Keepers of Knowledge series: The Darkmoon Descendant. Here's a snippet about the book: Meet Katherine King, Werewolf... Some bloodlines run dark. Some darkness can’t be overcome. For Katherine “Kay” King, that could mean life or death. Want to read more about The Darkmoon Descendant and learn more about B.K. Rae: February's featured indie/self-published author?
-Check out her featured author page on my website HERE. -Grab a copy of The Darkmoon Descendant on Amaazon HERE. -Follow my Instagram page HERE to be notified when I go live with B.K. Rae in a couple weeks for an interview about The Darkmoon Descendant. Happy Valentine's Day! I'm taking a minute aside to write this up, because I want to tell you about the review that made me cry on Valentine's Day. When I woke up this morning, I was greeted by the very first review and rating of The Vow That Twisted Fate, written by one of my advanced readers. Here is the review: The review that made me cry on Valentine's Day may not seem like much more than a glowing review to you, but it means all the world to me! This is my first-ever five-star review!
This review is the one I've been holding my breath for after my two flopped self-published books from 5 and 7 years ago--before I researched and learned how to proceed correctly in the self-publishing process. It is my first personal five-star review after 10+ years of helping others prepare their own books for publication by beta reading (which I now do professionally). The review that made me cry on Valentine's Day has given me the realization that I made the right decision in putting my work out in the world again. That others would care about my work. And that we all start somewhere, but our early failures do not define us. If you are a reader, please know that the time it takes you to write a review for your favorite indie/self-published author means the world to us. It's better than almost any gift. And if you're a writer reading this, you should know that writing is an art. One day at a time, one learning opportunity at a time, we will continue to improve our craft. Things I have learned in this process include: -Be patient. -Be open-minded. -LEARN from the critiques you receive, don't take them personally. -Realize when you need help (editors, proofreaders, beta readers, formatters, etc.) AND ASK for it. I can't wait to see what the rest of the writing community is putting out there! Would you like to add The Vow That Twisted Fate on Goodreaders? You can do so by clicking HERE.

After going around and around in circles trying to get the cover right, I have some good news about The Vow That Twisted Fate: proof hardback Copies are in! I chose to go with Barnes & Noble Press for the hardback copy of The Vow That Twisted Fate, which is due out in July. I wish I could say it's been a smooth process, but that unfortunately just has not been the case. I may actually make a YouTube video about that for other writers interested in the hardbacks with B&N Press, but that is not for this post. Today is a day for celebrating! The Vow That Twisted Fate: hardback proof copies are in! My Cover Reveal party drawing winner was finally shipped her advance hardback copy today, and as soon as my Amazon KDP (Kindle Direct Publishing) paperbacks come, those will be going out to my ARC (Advanced Reader Copy) team. There are still revisions to be made to the hardback covers (that strip in the picture is a misprint that I am working to correct as this is typed), but it is a start! I cannot express in words, despite being an author, the unique feeling of holding my book as a hardback in my hands for the first time. This is an accomplishment so long in the making! To flip through pages I've only imagined holding in that form, to see the formatting and cover and read my back cover blurb for the first time, is similar to seeing an extension of my own mind sitting in tangible form in my hands. Thank you for joining me in celebrating the news that The Vow That Twisted Fate: proof hardback copies are in!
